French Toast Roll-Ups

French toast roll-ups are a delicious and creative treat you can make at any time. Its delicious outer crispness combined with the filling gives an exquisite taste. It is also a great breakfast idea that pairs well with milk coffee. These roll-ups are very versatile as you can use many different ingredients for filling and make a wide variety of roll-ups according to each family member’s taste.

Ingredients for French toast roll-ups:

unsalted butter – 3 tablespoons

granulated sugar – 3 tablespoons 

brown sugar – 2 tablespoons 

ground cinnamon – 1 tablespoon 

Eggs – 2 large 

Milk – 1/4 cup 

granulated sugar – 2 tablespoons 

ground cinnamon – 2 teaspoons 

soft white bread – 8 slices, crusts cut off

butter, for saute pan – 3 tablespoons 

Maple syrup – for serving

The easy method of French toast dessert roll ups:

Step 1: In a ceramic bowl melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, with a fork mix in 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Add 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and mix until smooth.

Step 2: In a bowl add 2 eggs and 1/4 cup of milk, whisk, and set aside for later.

Step 3: In another bowl add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, stir, and set aside for later.

Step 4: Remove the crust and roll out each slice to about 1/8 of an inch thickness using a rolling pin. Spread a thin layer of butter mixture on a single slice and roll up tightly. Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.

Step 5: In a non-stick saute pan, add 3 tablespoons of butter and melt it over medium heat. After Dipping each roll in the egg mixture, please place it in the saute pan. Saute each side for 1-2 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Place the rolls on a plate and sprinkle generously with the sugar and cinnamon mixture. 

Step 6: Serve the rolls hot with maple syrup,

Delicious Filling Ideas: 

(i)   Blueberries and cream cheese

(ii)  Apple pie filling

(iii)  Peanut Butter with Banana

(iv) Nutella with strawberries.

Spread a spoonful of Nutella and add thin cuts of strawberries and roll up the bread tightly. Dip in the egg mixture and saute it for 1-2 minutes. sprinkle on the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Do the same with all the different fillings.

Can I freeze French toast roll-ups?

Yes, you can freeze French toast rolls. When prepared, let them cool completely and when they are at room temperature, place them in a freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer. By doing this you can store them in the freezer for up to a month. Before reheating, thaw the french toast roll-ups and warm them up in a microwave.

No, French toast roll-ups can be enjoyed occasionally but are not necessarily good for your health as they are high in calories and sugar. They can be enjoyed occasionally but eating too often could affect your health. 
Those who are health conscious and want to opt for a healthy alternative should use wheat bread instead of plain white bread as wheat bread contains more fiber and has a higher value of nutrients and fresh fruit should be used for the filling.
